Man erzielt durch einfaches Navigieren auf verschiedenen Detaillierungsebenen (Funktionsumfang von Business Intelligence Tools) schnelle Antworten auf erfolgsentscheidende Fragen im Unternehmen.    auch     Verfahren beim Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) und Information Retrieval. Dabei werden die verschiedenen Eigenschaften von vorhandenen Informationsobjekten herangezogen, um die Analyse bzw. Suche nach ihnen schrittweise zu verfeinern.
