Die arbeitsintensive und fehleranf\u00e4llige \u00dcbertragung der Antworten vom Papier in den Computer entf\u00e4llt. Fehleingaben k\u00f6nnen durch Pr\u00fcfmechanismen schon bei der Befragung korrigiert werden. Zus\u00e4tzlich k\u00f6nnen den Befragten &#8211; je nach Antworten auf bestimmte Filterfragen &#8211; unterschiedliche Folgefragen vorgelegt werden. CATI ist sehr eng verwandt mit CASI und CAPI.    auch     Englische Bezeichnung f\u00fcr ein computergest\u00fctztes Telefon-Interviewsystem. Dem Interviewer werden die vordefinierten Fragen am Computerbildschirm angezeigt. Gleichzeitig kann er m\u00f6gliche Antwortalternativen einsehen. Die Antworten der Interviewpartner k\u00f6nnen unmittelbar in das System eingetragen werden. Ein Vorteil des CATI ist, dass mehrere Interviewer gleichzeit telefonieren k\u00f6nnen, da der Computer die Telefonnummern vorgibt. Dadurch werden Mehrfachanrufe verhindert.
